This is going to sound super silly given all the cooking I do, but I really don’t love making my own smoothies because it’s just too much work (yes, even with my killer to-go cup blender). Typically, in order to make a tasty and nutritious smoothie, you need an array of ingredients chopped, prepped, and measured out, which requires more time than I have before work.
Since I’m typically a carbs-for-breakfast kind of girl, I rarely want to prep ingredients in advance and be required to have a smoothie every day during the week. When I’m not relying on my favorite Daily Harvest concoctions, this one is my go-to. It takes about two minutes to put together, I usually have all the ingredients on hand, and it tastes like a milkshake. It’s perfect as a light breakfast, or even an afternoon snack and pick-me-up.
Chocolate Espresso Protein Smoothie
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 espresso shot (or small amount of brewed coffee)
- 1/4-1/2 cup almond milk
Add the banana, protein powder, espresso and 1/4 cup of almond milk to a blender and blend until smooth. Slowly add and blend in ice and additional almond milk (if needed) until the desired consistency is reached.
