The temperatures have started to drop, which means even here in California, a cute dress and sandals is no longer a doable evening look. It’s one thing if you’re putting together your festive holiday party outfits, but what about something as simple as heading out for drinks on a Saturday night? Let’s face it, you want to look half-decent, but also don’t want to freeze. My solution: leather and sweaters.
I anxiously await this time of year so I can break out my trusty leather leggings. They’re comfortable to wear all night, offer a dressier look than jeans, and don’t sacrifice warmth like a pair of tights. There are so many budget-friendly options available (I suggest these or these), but if you’re fortunate enough to be able to swing it, go for these.
Once you have a sleek pair of pants to start with, you can afford to stay cozy on top. When in doubt, I go black on black on black, and by wearing a simple v-neck sweater you’ll maintain a dressy enough look for nighttime. Personally, I don’t shy away from an all black outfit, but for a fun pop I decided to add burgundy suede pumps.
Jimmy Choo is one of my absolute favorite shoe designers (along with Stuart Weitzman), and I can’t recommend these enough. I had this particular pair custom made in the burgundy color (a service Jimmy Choo stores offer!), but the shell of them is identical to the classic ‘Abel’ pump. If you’re in the market for a quality pair of pumps, both these and these are the best on the market (in my opinion).
