Brace yourselves for my favorite pizza of all. I always enjoy a good white pizza, and I really enjoy anything with truffles. Sadly, I don’t regularly stock full truffles to shave atop my pizza, but truffle oil or salt usually does the trick.
Unlike the last pizza I shared, this one doesn’t have a cream sauce, just tons and tons of cheese. This is hands down the one I make most frequently for pizza nights, and definitely the most requested by friends. It’s so easy to make, and who can say no to massive amounts of cheese and truffle?
Warning: you’ll most definitely be tempted to eat the entire pizza.
White Truffle Pizza
Place pizza stone on bottom rack of the oven or on a grill and preheat to the highest temperature. Allow the stone to heat for at least an additional 20 minutes after the oven has reached the desired temperature to ensure it’s retaining heat.
On a large floured surface, form your dough into an even round. Sprinkle cornmeal on your pizza peel, and transfer the dough to the peel prior to adding toppings. Generously brush the entire dough round with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and garlic. Spread the shredded cheese and arrange the mozzarella slices throughout.
Carefully, but quickly, slide the pizza onto the stone and bake for about 8 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Once done, pull your pizza out of the oven using the pizza peel. Drizzle truffle oil or sprinkle truffle salt (or if you’re feeling crazy, like me – both) over top and finish with freshly cracked black pepper.
